Yuletide: Fadeyemi Foundation distributes food items, gifts to widows, orphans in Osun.
Government and privileged Nigerians have been implored to imbibe the virtues of generosity by putting smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in society, particularly widows, to alleviate their challenges amidst the current economic hardship.
This call was reiterated at a women empowerment program organized by a non-governmental organization, Fadeyemi Foundation, held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Fountain of Joy Parish, in Ede, Osun State.
The convener, Mrs. Fadekemi Adelowo, and other speakers emphasized that empowering the elderly and widows who are usually the most vulnerable during economic crises should not be left solely in the hands of the government and public officeholders.
They urged wealthy citizens to commit to providing palliatives to cushion the effects of economic hardship on the masses, particularly during this festive period, as a complement to government efforts.
Sixty widows were provided with food items and financial support.
“Today, in a heartwarming display of kindness and generosity, we gathered here to show love and appreciation for the blessings we have received and to give back to those in need,” said Mrs. Adelowo.
“As a Foundation, our mission is to empower and uplift the vulnerable to achieve self-sufficiency and dignity. With support from donors, volunteers, and wealthy Nigerians, the Foundation also aims to make a positive impact in the lives of the masses.”
The event featured free medical checkups, the provision of medications for the beneficiaries, and the presentation of food items and gifts, including clothing, shoes, and bags, to widows and orphans.
